The presidential candidate whose policies are ‘net neutrality’ in 2012 will win the election.

If we allow this to happen, corporation will only allow us to do and view what they want, and block sites like youtube. This way they force you into using their limited programs and sites. But youtube is just an example, it can happen to other things that are close to you too.

The best way to combat the mainstream media takeover of the Internet is to only buy music, movies, books, magazines, and newspapers from alternative media, independent studios, and small record labels. Sell/trade any DVDs and CDs you have from the big 6 media conglomerates. Don’t use myspace or IGN which are owned by Fox. Don’t even look at a trailer to their movies.

I'd tell them to reinstate the restrictions they've stripped away the last few years.

But, quite honestly, its not going to do any good–the current FCC people are controlled by the media supercorporations. They will take any and all public comments and trash them, then implement whatever deal they've made this time.

It'll be at least until after the 2008 election before we'll have a real chance to do something about this.

If you didn't already lose all faith in congress after they
signed-off on stutter-vision ("DTV") then it takes
a lot to destroy your faith…

It's funny, you know, how people who think there
should be absolute freedom in everything never
think the people who pay for something should
be free to control access to it in any way they see fit.

Great, another gullible youtuber that bought the crap that the internet would end it 4 years. People should really learn about what they are talking about. ICANN, the “root” of the internet, is in the middle of deciding to allow you to use any peice of text as a internet extension(ie .ont) this will rake in millions of dollars for them, and why would they allow ISP’s to destroy that? they won’t, AthenWins fed you a load of crap.

At first glance, this seems like the same old spam but I checked it out on snopes dot com and its real.

I can see the point of the service providers as well and this will have to be carefully watched to make sure that its dont correctly.

AT&T is having to add extra capacity all the time because of the increase of internet usage. Now if I am the CEO of Widgets.com and people are having trouble getting to my site and ordering widgets from me because so many people are watching the latest live video stream on http://www.suckmytoejam.com, shouldn't I have an option of paying AT&T for a set reserved minimal available bandwidth? At this time, it not legal to do that but why not if I am willing to pay for it?

Net Neutrality is a misleading gvt proposal that would result in the government gaining the power to regulate the internet. The gvt is not a legit buisness and is not concerned with customer satisfaction. The gvt acts out of greed in its quest to moderate all that is.

If you don’t like the giant media provider companies then you should be fighting to ease govt regulations to create more competition.
If you think air-line travel is bad, wait until the internet is regulated by the fed goons.

This could be a good thing, I’m sick of paying my cable company for channels I don’t want just to get channels I want, It’s bullshit. No way in hell I will pay more for less though, if they have some good package deals that still allow me to do what I do then it’s all good.
If they came up with a package that gave you everything except porn, that would be wonderful, I don’t need porn on the internet,
worring about my kids seeing some fucked up shit like that. hate paying for stuf I don’t want.

Well, I didn't know about this until I read your question and went to the site. Wow! I have signed the petition and sent it to all my friends.
It would figure that the big companies would be trying to do something like this. I don't care if they are Rep. or Dem. It just shouldn't be done.
I support Neutrality and have joined the site, sending on letters to my senator and congressmen.
Thanks for opening my eyes about this!

What are you talking about. neutraility. what is this?
the net will remain neutral as long as the connection remains in the hands of the communication industry. if it is ever given over totally dependent on satellite transmissions with dsl's and blue tooth. we are lost. they will control it and that is all there is to it. the maker of the modem and the dial up needs to get on the ball and invent something to keep it in the hands of communications on the land level and outof the sky.
